New iPhone XS 2018 release date, price & specs rumours

Apple will be launching its next iPhone at an event on 12th September. Here’s all the news and rumours about Apple’s new iPhones for 2018 (aka iPhone XS or iPhone X Plus): their release date, new features, design, price & tech specs

Apple’s next batch of iPhones will be announced at a launch event on 12 Sept in California. We expect to see three new iPhone X-style handsets, including a larger iPhone X Plus and a cheaper LCD model.

Apple hasn’t officially stated that iPhones will be unveiled – the web page merely calls it an ‘Apple Special Event from the Steve Jobs Theater’ – but it’s an extremely safe bet. The lack of a new iPhone would disappoint fans, analysts and journalists, and lead to a drop in Apple’s share price.

If you want to know more about the forthcoming phones, you’ve come to the right place. In this article we round up all the news about the new iPhones’ release date, names, prices, design changes, tech specs and new features. Red and blue dummy models have leaked, while multiple sources now predict Apple Pencil support.

New iPhone SE 2 renders reveal gorgeous glass back

New renders of the upcoming iPhone SE 2, which depict it’s gorgeous glass back, have been revealed by a popular case-maker.

Olixar is already producing accessories for the device based on information it has gleaned from sources in China. It’s new screen protector indicates the iPhone SE 2 will be a big surprise, with a edge-to-edge display like the iPhone X.

The iPhone SE certainly isn’t the most popular smartphone in Apple’s lineup, but it remains hugely important. Not only is it significantly more affordable than it’s siblings, but the only iPhone that hasn’t been supersized to meet the demand for larger displays.

In a effort to keep it’s price low, Apple has made minimal to the iPhone SE in recent years. The device still carries the same design introduced with the iPhone 5 in 2012. But this year’s model could look a whole lot different.

iPhone SE 2’s new glass back revealed

Olixar has published more renders of the new iPhone SE based on information it has obtained from partners in China. They reveal a new glass back — just like that on the iPhone 8 and iPhone X series — which will likely allow wireless charging.

We’ve heard a number of times before that wireless charging will be one of the biggest improvements to the new iPhone SE. Olixar also expects the device to have a edge-to-edge display. with a notch, just like iPhone X. But that seems even more unlikely now.

Apple won’t give the iPhone SE 2 Face ID as that would drive the cost up and defeat its purpose. That means it will have to stick with its trusty Touch ID sensor, but there’s no sign of that in the pictures Olixar has provided of the front and back of the device.

With that in mind, we suggest you take these renders with a pinch of salt and don’t get your hopes up for a iPhone SE with a edge-to-edge display this year… or for the foreseeable future.
